Take this proven effective falls prevention training course!

Falling is an important health problem in the elderly. One in 3 persons 65 years and over fall at least once a year and about 12% of these falls require medical treatment.

The Dutch Nijmegen Falls Prevention Program was 'proven effective' in reducing the number of falls by half. The effectiveness of the program is determined in 2 randomized controlled trials.

Recently, the program received international attention in response to a published article in The New York Times.

Early next year – January 11th and 12th, 2019 – our partner, the Dutch Institute of Allied Health Care, will host a unique English-language training for physiotherapists on "The Nijmegen Falls Prevention Program".

On Friday, January 11th, the training day will take place at Olympic Training Centre Papendal near Arnhem. The follow-up day on January 12th is at the St. Maarten Clinic, the Nijmegen hospital that specializes in diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Transportation is provided.

What does the training involve?

  • Theoretical and practical background of the Nijmegen Falls Prevention Program
  • Implementation in your daily practice
  • An obstacle course, walking exercises, and training of fall techniques
  • practice in ADL balance and movement control
  • Teaching of fall techniques (derived from martial arts) to prevent participants from injuries

The costs: €495 including course material, dinner, lunch and transfer from Arnhem to Nijmegen.
