The Message: Illustrated skulls, created by Ali Gulec

Some of this artist's illustrated skulls have already been featured on the Anatomy & Physiotherapy Instagram and Pinterest. Who we are talking about? Ali Gulec, with his skull series “The Message”.

Ali Gulec is an Istanbul based illustrator and the co-owner of Ikiiki Design Studio. Originally Ali Gulec is a T-shirt print designer, but to get away from the fashion industry’s pressure, he works on his projects.

“The Message” is one of these projects, existing of skulls made with the use of digital and traditional collage, painting photography and sometimes a combination of them all. The skulls have a wide range when it comes to themes, he has made (among others) a lace skull, a vintage one, floral skulls and a cave skull. He even made a collage from a selection of doodles that he drew while he was talking on the phone.

Although I illustrate many subjects with a little touch of humour, skulls are my most known and appreciated ones. I believe people like my skulls because the contradictions such as life and death are much more obvious and visible in these pieces. Also, I have observed through the years that people are excited to see something resembling death doesn’t need to be scary and can be appealing for any person, even for my grandma” – Ali Gulec for Bored Panda
