Horst Kiechle began with the paper torso project in 2011 after this was suggested by Ms. J. Nakora from the International School Nadi in the Fiji Islands. The idea was to build a 3D torso with removable organs out of paper. After three months of work Kiechle completed the first version of the paper torso.
When in January 2012 My Modern Met blogged about his torso made out of paper, he received many requests to make the templates available. To do this he had to improve certain parts of the design and rewrite the instructions on how to build the torso. When Horst completed the project he uploaded all the organ templates on his website so they can be downloaded for free.
